Horsing Around
Following the exhibition concept of the Trojan Horse, the work brings together a candle holder and a sculpture. The starting point was an examination of the candle holders from “Gute Stute”, an iconic bar in Frankfurt am Main, whose visual language was brought to Vienna and reinterpreted there. It’s design draws formally on the structure of a paddock fence. The reduced geometry of the candleholder is accompanied by an abstracted horse figure, which appears as an independent element while also pointing to the narrative origin of the work. Between functional object and narration, memory and reinterpretation, a contemporary engagement with the formal world of the horse emerges.
